With 365 days of the sunshine, gorgeous beaches and tonnes of things to do, Puerto Vallarta Mexico is a very popular place to visit year round whether by land or by sea.
We first visited Puerto Vallarta years ago with a few friends on a Mexican Riviera cruise and thoroughly enjoyed our day in port. Since then, we’ve vowed to return again for a longer period, but we plan on returning alone — just my honey and me.
Relax – Rejuvenate – Renew – Romance
I imagine us relaxing on the beach, sleeping in luxurious resorts, strolling the cobblestone streets, photographing the colonial architecture, touring the local sites, shopping in the local markets and dining by candlelight on local cuisine. It’s the perfect place to go as a couple for a romantic getaway to quietly spend time together in paradise.
Puerto Vallarta has a long history and reputation of being romantic and glamorous.
In the 1960’s, the movie The Night of the Iguana was shot in Puerto Vallarta bringing worldwide attention to the previously unknown city. Richard Burton brought his future bride Elizabeth Taylor to the island where they declared their love for each other AND for the pretty island. They loved the island so much that they bought a home here and named it “Casa Kimberly”.
Romance and love continue today; Casa Kimberly is a nine-suite boutique hotel where they have an “Elizabeth Taylor Suite” complete with pink heart-shaped marble bathtub and Swarovski crystal chandelier, and the restaurant is named “The Night of the Iguana.”
A trip to Puerto Vallarta is not just a journey for sun, sand and sights — it’s for so much more.
