I’ve been testing the Omni-Heat™ Arctic Crest Sherpa Full Zip Fleece jacket for the past couple of months, and I can honestly tell you I love it. Wearing it under a coat during the cold winter season in Toronto, Canada, I’ve found the fleece lightweight and warm. There have been days when I wanted to wear it, but after putting it on, I found it too warm!

I especially appreciate the thick hood, which is handy when I don’t want to wear a hat or forget to bring one.
PRO TRAVEL TIP: I always opt for a full zip versus a half zip. It’s more versatile, and you don’t have to undress if you get too hot; you can open or close the zipper.
The cut is considered “Active Fit,” which means it’s designed for a close, athletic fit. This is something my “inactive” body doesn’t usually agree with. But it isn’t overly tight around the stomach and fits quite nicely.
The fabric content is 100% Polyester; 86% Nylon, 14% Elastane. Since it’s entirely synthetic, I found some static cling when you wear the fleece over something like Merino wool, as I often do. This can be a bit annoying, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me.
My only dislike is the burgundy patch pocket on the chest. I prefer a cleaner look since I wear it in urban environments.
In short, I think the Omni-Heat™ Arctic system is very warm and lightweight, making this line of products something worth looking into, especially if you are a carry-on-only traveller such as I am and headed on a trip during the cold weather season.
