With a historic charm all around us, we stay at the Mimslyn Inn in Luray, Virginia and whittle the day away, rocking on the front porch.

I’m not a lover of the oyster – especially oysters raw on the half shell. Today’s adventure was all about the raw oyster, and since they’ll be served fresh straight out of the water, I thought that I would challenge myself to finally eat one.

An excellent way to explore nature within any city is to rent a bike and hit the trails. It allows you to be like the locals, enjoy the environment on a personal level and gets you away from the concrete and glass of the urban city centre.

Arrive at Caboose Brewing Co. in Vienna Virginia on the weekend for brunch, and you’ll likely see cyclists of every shape and size standing outside with beers and food on the patio. A cyclist’s haven, the farm-to-table brewhouse is located in an industrial building along the 45-mile long Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Regional Park paved trail between Shirlington and Purcellville.

Located a mere 2 miles from Washington Dulles International Airport, the Crowne Plaza Dulles Airport Hotel in Herndon, Virginia is a great stay for business or pleasure.

It’s 8:30 AM and the olive eyes of the Bloody Blue Cocktail are blinking at me. I’m at Bay Local Eatery in the Chesapeake Bay Area of Virginia Beach, Virginia having breakfast and it’s a bit early to drink a Bloody Mary with cheese filled olive eyes even for THIS Mary!
